glorious beautiful RED
Date:
December 2017

Turning RED can sometimes be a VERY good sign Right?

Not just another day at Hartebeestloop – here you see Bonsmara heifers and polled crossbreed heifers directly after artificial insemination. When last were we so lucky – all of them came on heat on the same day! Yes, the same day…

And check ALL the stickers turning red when they went on heat! The polled crossbreed heifers were inseminated with semen from a polled Bonsmara bull. One step closer to a complete new Bonsmara polled mother line.

Roll out the red carpet everyone…

MOVERS AND SHAKERS!
Date:
October 2017

These bulls must all compete for a place amongst the cows – therefore they need energy! We EXPECT them to initiate change and influence our stud – in a good way :)

Hartebeestloop farm provides the fresh air, dry grass (this time of the year) and clean mineral-rich water needed for the abundance of energy.

The bulls on the other hand provide the sought-after genetics achieved by decades of on-the-veld performance testing, to turn dry veld into high quality grass-developed beef. And believe it or not, these dry sprigs also provide enough energy for the “Bulls meaning Business” business! (read many happy pregnant cows)!

Our prospective stud bulls will be evaluated on a number of traits to secure a place amongst the cows – adaptability and optimal performance on the veld with minimal input, BEING THE MOST IMPORTANT – and these are thus non-negotiable!

These 2 criteria are important for our clients and therefore important to us.

Simple maths can further explain that
GOOD GROWTH = Increased kg meat/hectare = Bigger Profit = HAPPY HAPPY (clients and whoever!)
